Can an old CSA case be re-opened?  My daughters Dad walked out of her life when she was 7 years old never to be seen again well until now she'll be 20 next month.  I opened a case with CSA, but he ran his own painting and decorating business, unregistered, worked cash in hand at the time.  He was earning loads of money drove the best cars, lived a life of luxury but denied paternity, refused he was her Dad and never paid a penny towards her upbringing, well surprise, suprise now she's old enough that he doesn't have to pay anymore he shows up again.  CSA sent me letter's over the years saying as he is earning nil he doesn't have to pay anything, of course I appealed the decision but I just got more and more letters saying sorry you're entitled to nothing.  The thing is looking at his facebook, there is a lot of evidence of his work, he had his own work van in 2012 all printed and personalised with his business logo, and of course I'm angry, I gave my daughter everything I had over the years, struggled financially and was there for her through every milestone, achievement, heartbreak everything and he never even changed a single nappy.

So I was just wondering can I get them to look into a case again, that was opened 13 years ago, and left active?

Technically if you never closed the case then it is still open so contact them and see what they say. I wouldn't hold your breath though but as they changed the way the calculated maintenance and used HMRC you might be able to get them to look into it.

All CSA cases are now closed. They would have written to you at the point they closed the case to confirm if you were owed any outstanding balance.

You could make a right of access request to obtain copies of the case records, to see if you reported changes at the time that weren’t acted on, but short of that, they won’t go back and look at it again now.

Potentially, if your case closed long enough ago and with no balance outstanding, the records may have been deleted in line with DWP’s GDPR policy. https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/department-for-work-pensions/about/personal-information-charter#how-long-dwp-keeps-your-data
