O/S Daily Friday 30 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light and dry, looks like we've had a slight frost, air feels nippy.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, and jacket potato. Some gammon left so will probably have that in a sandwich for lunch.
Yesterday I got done what I wanted and today I have a nail appointment early, so will go and do that then do the food shopping after. Be lovely to have gorgeous nails again.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. Enjoy having your nails done! It's dry and bright here, but only 5 degrees. Yesterday was bitter, wish it would warm up a bit. I've washed my thickest winter coat and put it away, and I'm not getting it out till at least October.Yesterday was an ok day, looked after Dgs, while DD took Dgd to the Dental Hospital in Newcastle. She was hoping it would be her last appt but they want to see dgd again in a fortnight.Today I must get a birthday present for a friend, it's her birthday on Monday, and I'm a bit behindhand. That's all I've got planned really, apart from the usual housework. DD slept through the night, in fact is still sleeping, with the aid of his trusty painkillers, his shoulder /upper back pain seems to be easing anyway. He takes it badly having disturbed nights, he 's not used to them like me.Snoozer, did you say a few days ago you had a dog flea problem, we had a cat flea infestation years ago when we had cats, it was murder - the little blighters were ferocious and took some getting rid of. I think flea treatment for the animal and the home is a bit more sophisticated now though. Then it was powder or spray for the cat and they would take off as soon as they saw you coming with it - we learned to creep up on them, what a performance it all was.Anyway I'll stop nattering on about nowt in particular, and send thoughts to our poorly people. Thinking of Nan and her DH today, Gers and her Mum, hope she's had a quiet night. Also Snoozer's Steve, Nelski, and Dumpling.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can - take care folks.13

Morning folks.Yesterday morning was more eventful than I had anticipated but the district nurses were very efficient and caring. Later on I picked up a friend from a funeral and he came to sit with DM whilst I did a bit of shopping. He said later that she didn't do any of the crossword at all. ☹️ Once he left at about 5pm she fell asleep and is still asleep.Today I have another appointment for more dental surgery, number three of six procedures for dental implants. This time it's for one wee post to be put into the gum, next time it'll be for two posts on the other side. Once again DM's friend is coming to be with her, it'll make me feel better about leaving her. Thanks so much for all the thoughts and messages especially when so many others have their own challenges and problems, it's really appreciated.Happy Friday to everyone.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We have a beautiful sunny start but by heck it's cold (2 deg) with the frost back with us. Let's hope May brings some warmer weather with it. It was so cold yesterday it was hard to believe that last week I had been sat outside reading!
Nothing of any consequence to report on. Today is earmarked for the usual Friday Tidy with a dust and vac all round. I managed to clean 2 smaller windows upstairs (plus the long mirror) yesterday, so the others may get done today. It's a right Westminster job when I start to clean the windows, it drags on all week!
Thinking of all our poorlies and poorly loved ones. GERS I hope you had a good night with DM. As well as SNOOZERS Steve, DUMPLING, NELS, MARIE and hoping today's news on NAN's DH isn't as bad as she is fearing. Worrying times for some of us. RUBY at least you had good news, your employers seem really caring, so no rushing back to work for you until you feel up to it. Take care one and all x

Morning all sunny but cold here again day 3 of the loft clear out will it never end DH is doing his usual head in the sand and refuses to part with anything that is his and says he will sort it when it is in the loft at the new house of course you will is my sarcastic reply take for example some thermal drinks cups we got free from a cruise we went on me "chuck these as we have sealed ones" him "no i have hot drinks in those " me" they have been in the loft for at least 5 years and we have the ceramic ones downstairs so i will chuck the sealed ones then as we don't need 5" him ""no leave it i will sort them out later in the loft "
I have various tea and dinner sets to dispose of today so a trip to the charity shop later mostly not complete and we don't know whose they were so time to move on, hopefully by the end of today it will be empty I do keep trying to explain if we move again it will be so much harder as we aren't getting any younger but i am loosing the will to live with the argument i will just take stuff and bin it when he isn't around
Ruby sounds like a good boss you have there pleased its put your mind at rest
Nanny Fingers crossed for your DH appointment today I hope it all goes well
Right enough of my waffle I am sending lots of gentle hugs to all our poorlies and those caring for them especially Gers and her DM,Dumpling and her DSis,Nels ,Marie and Snoozers Steve .
Have a good day stay safe and warm xxSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers and her Mum, Snoozer and Steve. Caring for someone is an exhausting experience, try and catch some rest.
Bright sunny morning, we are off to collect Niblets quilt from the long arm quilter. Gardener is due after lunch, he can start in the front garden weeding, not sure if DB has anything for him to do. Will be giving the car a burn up on the A46!!
Usual fish and chips tonight, may be rasps and ice cream for dessert.10 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Today is a bit same old, same old really.
Some rain at last for the patched garden and the trees are in leaf.
My thoughts are with Gers, Nan, Snoozer, Marie and Nelski.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but still cold I have a wash on the go which can go on the line today.
I have a hosp appointment today just for a check up I hope they will be pleased, the scars are all healing very well no weeping or splitting for a long while, I still cant lift anything of any weight but thats no bother really.
After the hosp I am going to Aldi to collect the shopping and then home to put it all away (I hate that job !! ) OH is off today so he will help, we will then take the dogs out for a good long walk.
Dinner tonight will be the fish etc from last night my tummy was still bad yesterday so I just did not fancy it so we will have that tonight.
Gers I am glad mum had a settled night xxx
Nan and Mr fix it hope all goes well today xx
Have good days all xx

A brief visit to wish all the poorlies a better day. Strength to those going through tough times, especially Gers, Nan and snoozer.
It was good to see you pop in yesterday Nels, be gentle with yourself.
I've just read through yesterday's thread to remind myself of what I said. It appears that I didn't say anything, though I distinctly remember typing a post. I really must try to press the right button. Here goes.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all, the sun is shining but it's freezing again brrr.Nothing much to report for today except we're waiting for the dreaded phone call appointment which is not till nearly 4pmWe shall to give the car a run in a moment, I can't believe we haven't been out in it for a week. We won't stop just have a look at the changes in the landscape now things seem to be greener. The trees in my garden have started to come into leaf so spring must be here, I'm just waiting for some more warm weather now. If it does warm up this afternoon I'll do some more digging out, anything to keep myself busy really. Tea will be a BBQ chicken pizza from the freezer with chips for himself and a salad for me. I found 3 chocolate eclairs in there too, which we'll share for pudding. Sink or swim eh ?Hugs to the poorly ones, their carers and anyone struggling todayRedRuby fingers crossed for your check up and Gers dental appointment. Apologies if I have forgotten anyone, my minds in a whirl.Oh I nearly forgot, we won the lottery last night a whole £3.50 ! Better spend that wisely, I don't want it to change my life 😂Take care all, stay safe.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13
