Will my 24 year old sons caution stop me from working for the police

Hi,
So I have been offered a job in my local force as police staff. I am going through the vetting process and I totally understand why it is done. I've had to put down my children and other family members. My 24 year old did a stupid thing last year of stealing money from work and was given a caution. He hasn't done this before or since. I think being interviewed by the police has scared him as well as my reaction (Which wasn't very pleasant!!)
Will this caution on him have an impact on MY vetting? I know it might seem silly but it is worrying the hell out of me.
Thanks in advance

You can't know that. All you know is the instance he was caught.

That of course is true of anybody.

I have spoken to the Vetting and it shouldn't have an impact though I do need to declare it which I have so I shall wait and see.

Always declare these things. It's when you don't declare them and they find out you start having major issues.
  • To answer the OP - a caution shouldn't do.
But as per other comments always be honest on vetting - trying to hide anything counts against you

Given that a Caution is issued when someone has admitted they have done whatever it is then it is like a conviction.  So should a regular conviction for the same offence also not have an impact on the parent's application?  I'm not suggesting that anyone would or wouldn't have an impact, just wondering.

I don't see why the actions of one adult should be taken into account when vetting another adult, whether it be a caution or a full criminal record.

Unless the adult being vetted is in some way implicated in the offence why should it matter?

They are only going to care if your Son is actually part of some criminal organisation who could thus bring pressure to bare on you which seems unlikely from your post.
