Fixed term contract and mortgage - shared ownership

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can advise / share their story...
We are in the process of purchasing our first shared ownership property (resale). I have been on a permanent contract for the past five and a half years and my husband has been with the same employer for the past three and a half years. However, he started off through agency, then the contract was moved under the company itself and it has always been a fixed term contract, renewed every six months. He currently has 4 months left on the contract and unfortunately the company isn't the most efficient when it comes to informing/confirming contract renewals (even though they keep renewing them for everyone employed).
So, my questions is: how much of an issue is it likely to cause when it comes to obtaining mortgage. Oh my, I wish the vendor had decided to advertise two months ago when the contract had just been renewed!!
Any suggestions are welcome

With a steady history of renewals then there shouldn't be any issue on a mortgage application1
