Kensington offer extension.
Hope you are all keeping well in these strange times.
I am wondering if anybody could help with a query. Somebody may have gone through a similar situation.
My partner and I secured a remortgage offer with Kensington back in December. The idea being to take somebody off and put somebody on the mortgage.
All was going well, until the outgoing parties solicitor refused to complete an independent legal advice (ILA) form. This is a generic one page form from Kensington. Our solicitor then spent time trying to get this done by them. The Outgoing parties solicitor then realised it should have been completed, but our mortgage offer had expired by the time they sent it.
Our solicitor is currently liaising with Kensington to try and get the offer extended. Its now over a week and there's been no update. The Kensington website says extension requests take 48 hours.
Just wondering if our solicitor is fighting a losing battle. We just need to know where we stand, so we can move forward.
Anybody had a similar experience?
Many thanks

@debtfree12000 Apologies if I'm missing something obvious, but why is your solicitor liaising with Kensington to get an offer extension? Your broker would be the logical person to work on this.

That's a good question.
We queried this last week, but were told the solicitor was liaising with them.
To be honest, the whole process has been messy. This is my first experience of the mortgage process, our broker got us the offer back in December. Once the solicitor got involved we have not heard from the broker.

@debtfree12000 I would strongly recommend getting your broker involved in this. Post-offer, they wouldn't really contact you unless there was something specific for them to do. This is definitely something for them to do, so give them a call/email.debtfree12000 said:
