Old Style Daily Saturday 24 April 2021

Gers

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks.Outside looks bright even though it's cold still.Yesterday was calm, no crisis or problems. I only went out to take a couple of bags of jumpers to a CS and buy a paper. DM still flushing, she's breathing so much easier and her anxiety has eased. Not sure mine has. This morning it's the usual shopping trip then I'm dropping off some old towels to a cat rescue place nearby and finally posting off the three old cameras to the homelessness project. I checked out all the model numbers but they're ten-a-penny ones.DM's friend is coming round for their crossword session, not sure if scrabble is planned or not. I'll do some more sorting out. I've bought some vacuum bags to make it easier to take clothes downstairs and into the car.The weather looks promising, I hope the sunshine is everywhere, definitely weather for being in the garden or out walking the hills.Happy Saturday to all.15

Morning everyone
Gers - hugs to you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry and sunny, bit of a nip in the air but that will warm up I'm sure.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my brekkie. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken and ham kievs with pasta in sauce for the menfolk. I had fish and salad. Tonight we're having chicken in sweet chilli sauce and some mixed grains - something we've found that we're going to try.
Yesterday was a fairly chilled day - I stripped our bed and got the majority of it line dried and put back on - love that feeling when you get into a bed with clean sheets.
I'm going to enjoy this weekend as I'm back to work on Monday and it will be full and busy with preparing for when the new structure goes live shortly. Looking forward to the new start and new challenges.
This morning I just need to pop out to the SM to pick up a couple of bits they didn't have yesterday, fill my car with fuel too whilst I'm there.
Keep safe and well x

Good news about DM Gers. Steve too seems improved so he's under strict instructions to stay put for the next couple of days.
I started quilting sister-in-law's table runner, I'm trying a new technique and so far I'm pleased. Apart from that not a lot else happened.
We had planned to go for a walk with Chris and Crystal today but that's out, maybe they will come across for tea in the garden although Chris may not want to drive over, he has such a long drive to work every day I don't blame him.
Have a good day everyone.13 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting Gers. It's a grey start here, but dry. Yesterday was sunny and really warm in our sheltered back yard. We've just got a walk planned for today, a longish one that we haven't done since last year. A lot of it is through woods, so there'll be plenty of bird song I hope. DD and family did their weekly pilgrimage to the caravan after she picked up Dgd from school, don't know what Ds2 and family are planning, probably a beach walk since they live very near to the coast.Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks14

Morning All
It's bright and sunny this morning again, work clothes on the line and the towels can go in once I've had a shower.
Glad you're looking forward to new challenges nmlc.
Good news that your DM's breathing is better Gers, hope she enjoys her crossword day and you have a peaceful day.
Hugs to the poorlies, how's your back Ruby?
Shopping to do this morning, I may play with the pressure washer later - the deck is looking quite mucky after the winter. Must pay a visit to the allotment too.
Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers good to read that your Mums breathing is better. Hope she enjoys her afternoon with her friend.
Another lovely morning, I have the washing machine on with a load of coloureds. They will go on the line.
I am delighted we have at last found a gardener who really knows what he is doing, the big border was weeded and we have decided which plants are for 'the chop' and which will be moved. Two mugs of coffee with 3 spoons of sugar, his drink of preference.
DB is aiming for the garden shortly, I need to do some clearing out of clothes to go to the charity shop, its paring down time, things I have not worn for years, am just going to keep a capsule wardrobe of mix and match stuff.
I managed to get the label done yesterday for Niblets quilt, just waiting to hear its ready to collect.
Tonights supper will be all day breakfast, I need to take chicken out of the freezer for tomorrow.9 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here with a bit of a breeze, I have the towels on a hot wash and they can be hung out later, OH can put his work clothes in after.
We are hoping to bbq tonight but will see what the weather is doing it tends to get a bit cooler in the evenings but we will see, if not there is plenty to eat.
Camelot my back is still sore but is easing every day, its worse in the mornings and evenings when I have been sitting or laying, hopefully it will be gone in a few days xx
Housework today but wont take too long with us all doing a bit, the grass needs cutting too but OH can do that
Saw my dog walking friend yesterday and we walked for about an hour with her pup and ours, my dd's pup and hers play the whole time and in the end her pup laid down to have a rest and dd's huge pup sat on him for agesthey are very funny together, my dog is not interested in such puppy behaviour and just wants to chase her ball.
Gers glad mum had a good night xx
Snoozer I hope Steve does as he is told xx
Have good days all xx

Morning folks and thanks GERS. No blue sky here this morning sadly and it feels cooler too, Seems as though there will be no afternoon reading in the garden today.
I was going to catch the early bus into town but after much dithering I decided I cba! I don't need anything it was just to get out for an hour or so. It was a good move as I have just had a message saying my M & S delivery of a jacket will be this morning. It's just a lightweight one for when it's too warm for a coat but not warm enough for just a cardigan.
Well I am never satisfied! After my second haircut inside 2 weeks I am now complaining I still can't do anything with it as it's now too short!! Never mind it seems to grow quicker when it's very short!
I have a Tesco delivery on Monday and need to add a few more things to my order so will do that whilst I am on here. No doubt I'll be adding more forgotten items tomorrow as well!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones. Good to read that some of the poorllies are improving a bit. Take care one and all stay safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Hello allI have been busy this week, I blame the good weather for that ! All the washing is up to date but there is some dreaded ironing yet to do. In the garden I decided to clear a new space for the rubbish bins and I've had to take down a rather large shrub. I've done part of it but it's slow going and big ( you could get lost in there 😃) then I have to clear the stumps/roots before leveling the ground. I do wonder sometimes why I have these mad ideas, must have had too much sun 🌞. Most afternoons I have tried to read for a while and take time for myself. We visited the 'van and brought back some drawers that are sagging, so Mr Fix It fixed those and the windbreak may need attention too but we'll open that up this afternoon on the patio and check. Can't remember if we fixed it on site 2 yrs ago 😲 or not. The old moisture traps have also been removed and cleaned, but we have bought a new one that uses tablets not crystals, so no gunky stuff to remove. Hopefully we can go back over to the van sometime this week. This morning the kitchen has had a good clean and I have made a coffee cake ( so much for the diet ) and I must make the buttercream and then ice it now the cake is cold. Tea will be HM sweet and sour chicken with rice.Take care all, stay safe and sanenan xx

Afternoon everyone
Had a lovely play with little one this morning - after she'd helped me put the washing outside! She's in charge of passing the pegs and said over and over 'it's my job granny isn't it?' , with great emphasis on the word 'my.'
I wasn't thrilled last night when I took the washing out of the machine and discovered everything was covered in little white bits - she'd been playing with a roll of masking tape and had tidied it into the washing machine instead of the drawer. I do usually check because she puts all sorts in there but hadn't last night. Hopefully the bits will have blown off. She likes me to tear a long piece of masking tape off and stick on her back as a tail so she can be a cat.....
DD picked us up about 11 and dropped me off in town as I had a prescription to collect. I got what I needed and got the bus home again. Our little town was packed with holiday makers and there were queues to get in the charity shops.
Planning to sit outside and read this afternoon as the sun is shining and I have a Tesco delivery coming between 2 and 3pm.
Eldest DD has been sending me lovely pictures of Nuremberg this morning - it looks such a pretty place. She's very excited as her new kitchen is getting fitted today.
Hope everyone has a good day today8
