Mileage Rebate

Options
Hello, has anyone claimed their mileage tax back through self assessment? I want to do it myself and not pay RIFT the extortionate rate they charge. Help with how to fill the SA out would be great.

I have done 10,468 miles for 20/21. As I understand its £0.45 for the first 10,000 and £0.25 for anything else, so for me £923.40. I am in the military and can claim back the tax on the cost of meals bought on base so any help on how to fill out this info on SA would be great.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Does your employer not pay you any expenses for mileage? If they do you need to take what they pay you off.
I'm not sure if they're any special rules for the military, but I just work out the HMRC allowed mileage amount (on the 45p/25p rate as you've done above) and deduct the expenses I've been paid for that mileage, and the difference goes in the business travel expenses box in the employment section of the tax return.
