WFH Allowance

in Cutting tax
Hi all,
A quick question that I cannot find an answer to online.
How long has the WFH tax relief allowance, that I claimed last year when submitting my tax return and which I will do the same this year too, been around?
I know you have always been able to claim a certain percentage for heating, lighting etc when WFH but how long has the flat rate been around or was it a new thing set up due to the pandemic?
If it has been around for a while, is it possible to backdate it?
TIA

Apologies, I have found a thread already discussing this

It started from 6 April 2012, at £4 a week up to and including 2019/20. You can go back 4 years.

Since at least 2011:12.

If you have a valid claim (rules much stricter than they are for Covid-19 claims) then you can currently claim an additional 2 years, 2017:18 and 2018:19.
If you completed Self Assessment returns for those the time limit for amending them has passed so you would have to make overpayment relief claims.
