Car dent in car park

Options
So yesterday in tescos car park like usual I reversed out of my parked space and drove along line usual, it was a bright sunny day and I ended up hitting something at first I didn’t think much of it because I thought it was just me stalling (lol) it was a small little hit, and then I checked and it was a white plastic blockade in the road, in my defence it was there for no reason, like why was it there? What was the intention of it to be in the middle of the road and anyway I did check nothing happened to the blockade and at the time I didn’t think it did anything to my car, now today I’ve just realised a mildly medium dent where it would’ve hit on the side of my car. I’m not sure whether to try fix it myself or contact tescos because I want to know what was it’s purpose in being there anyway, it’s a car park it’s meant for cars not giant plastic things. So I’m stuck at what I should do.

  • I’m not sure whether it’s my fault for not looking properly for a giant plastic thing that’s on the road where it shouldn’t be or if it’s tescos for putting it there in the first place.

If your car (moving) hit a stationary object, then it is the fault of whoever was driving your car at the time.

I can't see any reason to contact Tesco, unless you are concerned about having damaged the white plastic thing that belongs to Tesco and you wish to meet their repair costs.

I wonder whether this would be better in either the Insurance or the Motoring forums?

    It's a poor driver detector.

Obviously, there is no missale here.   So, the post is in the wrong section.

If you drive into a giant plastic thing then it is your fault.  No-one else.
