Prison work and CCJ

Hi, I’ve been offered a post at my local prison as a mental health nurse. I really want to take on this challenging role. I’ve got to go through the process of a DBS, which is fine. But apparently the prison does its own vetting process, which I’ve never heard of before. But I’ve read about them looking at your finances. Why? I’m concerned that I have an unpaid CCJ from a while back that is still on my record. Will that affect my vetting outcome?? I really don’t want to lose this post. Can anyone please advise me?
TIA

Others make the determination, not you.

    👆 I completely agree.

OP I'd maybe fully read up on working in a prison. My brother is extremely high up at HMPS and you'd be amazed at the stories, most won't reach you but if you didn't know you would approached with bribes and put that together with finance checks then I'm guessing you haven't researched fully.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Not even if they say, if you don't they will have someone waiting at the school gates to collect your child..... And then name exact school gates just to really put the eebyjeebies up you..... You would take a bribe to help them? You can't report them because they already know where your child goes to school, if you report them then who knows what else they will find out....

Just a made up scenario, that's all.... But best to go in with open eyes.

Agree with this, I don't know the full details of the why, but someone I used to work with moved to HMPS for their last 2/3 years before retirement. They risked everything by smuggling mobile phones in, they swapped one side of the bars for the other.

Totally off topic. But wow...... Worked till 60 (or whenever) I'm guessing without issue. Then a silly silly misguided judgement call and look what happened.
I'm no longer shocked at what I hear in the service but am astounded at how much knowledge and power those behind bars have.

Remember prisoners have all the time in the world to plot and scheme against the staff, they bounce off each other, it does happen.

Yes, it took us all by surprise, she had a family, Husband and a good pension. Oddly enough I also know one of the prison officers that worked on her wing too

It is staggering how much information can be ferreted out about almost anybody, even by totally legal means. If somebody is prepared to go further than that and is willing to use illegal methods then virtually noting is private these days.
