My Computer Crashes While Playing Games

Options
Hello everyone, I am encountering a problem with my computer recently. While gaming, after every 10-15 minutes, it starts crashing my computer every time. I could not find out the reason behind it. Can anyone help me to solve the issue?

Not up to the spec for the game or not enough RAM .

    Possible reasons are.

    1. PSU is not good. No wattage mentioned is not enough, refer to the tiier list on linus tech tips.

    2. AMD CPU of earlier generations do not go good with DDR4 at XMP speeds over 2997 (I have one I used 2800), The XMP was designed for itels back then. (you are not losing anything by underclocking unless you went for some mad specced ram).

But beyond more info likle the machine specs and the game you are playing. Who knows!

    Concur with the other comments.

Whenever I see computers with problems under high stress loads there is a 95% chance that it is either a struggling power supply or dodgy RAM.

Try the RAM. If you have 2 slots, take 1 out & do a RAM test/ and/or gaming. If it stops crashing it means the removed RAM is faulty. Also check they are both the same type/model of RAM, since if different can cause crashing. Make sure you run a RAM test.  When removing the RAM make sure to ground yourself at the time to avoid static discharge.

On top of the above - check drivers/GPU are all up-to-date etc...

More often than not, overheating is the cause of computer crashes. It can be due to several causes, like faulty hardware, RAM overload, or dust buildup. If you can't have your hardware checked right away, just make sure to keep an eye on the temperature of your computer. Softwares like Speed Fan or Core Temp can definitely help you on a short run. :)

"Crash" can mean so many things to different people - have you got more information about what you mean by crash, for example it could be any of the following:

    1. Game freezes, totally unresponsive to keyboard / mouse no matter how long waited
    2. As above but for a short period of time and game resumes
    3. Game closes returning to normal desktop
    4. Blue screen of death - if so what is the error message
    5. An error message of some kind - be specific
    5. Computer reboots / shuts down
    6. Something else?

Without more information you are going to just get random guesses in the replies, no true techie would even start to give an answer without knowing what the exact symptoms of the crash are and running some diagnostics.

Additionally it would be really useful to give a full spec and age of the PC that you are using.
  • Mine is too, that's why I prefer ordinary games like card ones
