Reasonable time to administer spousal pension?

Morning.
What is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a pension administrator to pay a spousal pension following the death of a scheme member?  Or at least to notify spouse of entitlements?   All straight forward, only beneficiary is spouse.
It's administered by Capita if that helps!
Thanks

It used to be within a month of the pension administrators receiving all necessary claims forms and certificates (not from the date of death).  Then came Covid.

How long - since the claim forms and certificates were submitted - are we talking about?

Capita unfortunately earned itself a rather rude nickname (with an 'r' in) some time ago. They have not historically been the fastest out of the blocks on admin.

You have not told us how long you have already waited.

Capita are !!!!!! and always have been. All third party administrators bid the lowest price to manage a pension scheme, then have long service level agreements (their set times for completing a piece of work) and load up the admin staff with lots of work.

A death claim is a priority claim.

If you have not joy from them write the actual scheme and complain.

Thanks for all the above comments. Been waiting about 7 weeks now from when I returned all the paper work and they returned death certificate. I've been really prompt returning all their forms. They cancelled my husband's payments straight away funny old thing!

That's far too long, even with Covid.  Is there a telephone number you can ring to ask for an update?

Completely agree - but with one caveat. OP, don't forget that if you posted things to them, there is the possibility of that old chestnut 'postal delays/lost in post' which might be true....
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

OP did you send them signed for / guaranteed, if so you should be able to confirm when the letter was delivered, and maybe print off a copy of the signature of whoever took it in.

Yes, was sent signed for and they've definitely had the claim form as they've returned the death certificate that I sent with the form.
