If you put a full mortgage application in through a broker, do they really grill you on every detail on your bank statement and your spending habits?

@tbo127 I wouldn't call it a "grilling" and we can rarely afford to pore over and question every single detail on the bank statement. Your discretionary spending habits (takeaways, sky package, etc) are only ever a concern with a few specialist lenders or small building socieities.

I usually ask for 3 months bank statements and review it to see if there are any regular commitments on there which I need to query while keeping an eye out for anything else the lender might question.

What about things like holidays?  If you say take 1 or 2 big holidays a year and a few more extended weekend breaks is that likely to affect the application?
