Interviewing for a role in financial sector but have a CCJ which is settled from 2007.
Am I automatically excluded from the interview process?
Am I automatically excluded from the interview process?

Not automatically excluded. It will depend on the potential employer and their own rules. It would seem surprising if a 14 year old CCJ, and a good credit history since, would stop somebody working in financial services.

Depends on the role - although an old CCJ that has long dropped off your credit file won't be an issue normally.Assuming of course you're not interviewing at the same financial institution that defaulted you - they may well have their own records that will pick this up and reject you further down the line (my bank certainly does this...)1

i think CCJ only stays on your credit file for 6 years as per link below.

It depends on their policy and their indemnity insurers.
You never said on your other post if you were qualified, at any level. I know in some professions you could be ruled out because of past financial conduct, some will look into it further before allowing you to qualify.
Was nothing asked on the application form when you applied for the job?
As you will know from your credit report, it only stays on for 6 years.
Let's tag @ACG as he does occasionally pop up when he sees people talking about having a career in his line of work (sorry, I know you're busy!)Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
I don’t know of any roles where a CCJ is an automatic exclusion. I got one after the DVLA didn’t receive my SORN renewal and I failed to update my V5 and my bank accepted that it showed neither financial irresponsibility or dishonesty so wasn’t an issue.
You’ll be expected to honestly respond if asked about it.1 -
Thanks for the replies so far.
It would be for a mortgage broker and would be starting out as a trainee mortgage advisor and hopefully gaining CeMAP qualifications.
Ive declared it honestly as I think that’s best from the beginning. Regardless of how long ago it was.
The CCJ was mortgage related due to my ex partner not paying. Eventually it got to that stage of the judgement and at the time for me was the best way to resolve that issue. I settled the CCJ immediately with help of family and repossession of the house
Since then ive had finance on a car, a bank loan which were perfect and paid off in full. I’ve had a mortgage since February 2015 and have had no missed payments on anything since my CCJ.1 -
So again I'll ask - are you applying for a job at the same mortgage broker as the one that got you the CCJ all those years ago? That may be important because financial institutions can have a long memory here, much longer than your credit file.My own bank refused to let me hire a candidate because he had defaulted on one of their credit cards over 15 years ago. Some banks never forgive and never forget... if there is a connection in your case, be prepared to address this head on...0

Sorry I missed that answer in my reply.
No the companies are not the same at all. But I would totally understand that from a company.1
