Mortgage with CCJ?

Hey all. Earlier this week I as I was applying for a BTL mortgage I discovered I have a CCJ on my credit report. Initially I found it amusing until I learnt the seriousness of it. It appears high street banks would no longer consider me for a mortgage. Is it worth pursuing a deal through a broker or would I hit a brick wall there also? Any experience with this sort of this would be greatly appreciated.

For what it's worth, the CCJ relates to a parking fine that landed on my doorstep after I had left for Mexico. Roll on 8 months later & I finally returned home to a bundle of letters re bailiffs & missed court dates. I paid the fine immediately.

It seems extreme & unfair that my rating would have gone from a likely 'very good' to 'poor' for the sake of 30 quid.

    How old is the CCJ?
    When was it satisfied?
How much was it for? £30 would have been the original amount, not the amount after proceedings with all the court / solicitors costs added on.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

@holeydel For a BTL mortgage, it may not have as big an impact as it would for a residential one.

It will depend on the specifics (and how strong the rest of the case is) but you may still be able to access mainstream/mainstream-ish rates with the right lender. I would definitely recommend using a broker though.

Thanks for the encouraging words. The CCJ was issued in July 2020 I believe & the mess settled in October in the region of £200. So it's all very recent in regards to my record. I cleared a finance deal on my credit report also, once that reflects on my record I'll approach a broker or two and see what they can find. How annoying!
