Started my first graduate job a few weeks before I stumbled across this article and contacted payroll as soon as I read it. I’ve since received almost 500 quid in matched contributions on my employer’s pension scheme — and eternal gratitude from my mates when I told them to do the same. Don’t think I’d have given pensions a second thought at the ripe old age of 21 without this blog, and pretty sure payroll assumed the same! Cheers Martin!

I'm a 61 yr old retired police Inspector but I work as an Exam Invigilator earning less than £3k a year on a casual employment contract. My Council employer has auto enrolled me in the workplace pension and I feel that I need to opt out as the benefits over the next (max) 5 years are small compared to my existing pension and state pension. Any thoughts would be welcomed.0
