Hi, I originally joined in 2008, when I was made redundant, during the financial crisis, from a well-paying job that I loved. MSE posters helped me immeasurably to adopt frugal ways and attain debt free status. The ensuing years have been eventful with many ups and downs, but I am grateful to be here and realise that DH and I have no non-mortgage debt, but we have 4 properties and three mortgages. I want to clear them all within 10 years, allowing DH and I to retire at 65. I have also managed to acquire 30 pounds, in weight, during that period and losing this has become a major priority for me too. My goal is to sail into early retirement - healthy, wealthy and wise
.
I need the focus of a diary to keep me on track with my mortgages and weight and will drop by tomorrow to post the scores on the doors.
I wish you all good fortune on your journey's too.

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

2024 - the year that I lose 33 pounds in fat and gain £33,000.00 in savings and have lots of fun along the way.
I am updating my diary
I will be 58 on 2nd March 2024 and I want to be in a position where I only do work that I enjoy, from that point on. My plan for 2024 is to focus on my health, creativity and the people that really matter to me. I am going to adopt a more frugal, earth centred lifestyle. It will be the year of saying 'no' to anything that does not fit that brief.
In October 2023 I gave six months notice on a very profitable client, because the risks were beginning to far outweigh the rewards and we will part company on my birthday. Hallelujah. This will mean that my income starts to decrease rapidly from next spring as my peace of mind increases.
DH and I still have the four properties, mentioned in the opening post and the applicable mortgages have been steadily decreasing. We are still aiming to fully retire at 65 and my husband currently works three days a week.
Finances can be a bit complicated, with having three buy to lets and a limited company in the mix, but I will try and do an SOA for it all before the start of next year so I have a better idea of where savings can be made.
If I am really careful I should be able to save £33,000.00 in 2024 and have joined the save £12,000 in 2024 challenge, with this as a target. This is also the year where I take weight loss seriously and I have set a target of losing 33 pounds, which will get me to my ideal weight.
I feel determined to make this happen.
Happy holidays everyone and best wishes for 2024.

So the above is my plan ....
I am going to lose weight by:-
1. Tracking food intake aiming for 1400 calories a day
2. Drinking 2 litres of water a day
3. Walking an average of 8,000 steps a day
4. Dancing once a week, swimming twice a week and cycling once a week.
Adjusting if the weight does not budge as planned
I am saving through sticking to my budget - most is fixed as it is connected to my business but there is an area which is flexible and that is the column for food, miscellaneous and diesel which is £860.00.
I plan to check in each Friday and track the above.
