Emmia said:I asked a well known high st bank to change my title from Mrs to Ms on my accounts - and the staff member in branch asked to see my divorce papers to action this.
I'm not divorced, and have no intention of getting divorced - so I explained that I preferred a non marital status specific title, and asked to see her manager
I had that when I split with my ex.
I pointed out I wasn't changing any part of my name just my title and there's no proof required. Also said I could use Mrs, Ms or Miss, it's not as if I was changing sex where there would be proof of a different title and even when divorced it doesn't mean there's a name change. It was only one bank who queried it and quickly backtracked the others just did it.
