Homemade christmas cards for kids to make

The children always make the cards for close family and their teachers/helpers, and this year we decided to do the 'Shower of Glitter' from here - http://www.kidscraftweekly.com/christmas_cards.html.

We did the first 10 today, and I just thought I'd recommend it as an amazingly easy (even our 20 month old had a go with the glitter shaker) and yet effective card.

I'll put a picture on later tomorrow, but thought I'd flag up the idea in case anyone else was about to start on a similar card-making project.

How lovely :) I have made my own cards this year and I was delighted with the results :) I know that the people that I have sent them to today will love them,at the back I always add homemade by and my name so they know its been homemade :) I also got a merry christmas stamper and red ink and I had fun inking merry christmas inside my cards,I even stamped on the front of the envelope this afternoon to make it christmassy :) I had spent a fortune on craft bits for the cards but to me every penny was worth the money spent :)

I know what you mean abuot spending a fortune - although it is one benefit of them being the kids cards rather than mine in that bits of glitter and coloured paper are what they prefer to 'play' with (as opposed to all the ready made toppers you see around).

I put a label on the back like you do, and I add the year so that grandparents etc can see how the boys are changing.

I did something similar, I had an angel stamp & got a glud pad to make glittery angels, we then put glue around the outside & sprinkled stars & angels as a border.

DD has just turned 3 so the hard part is getting her to write her name (& her baby sisters) on them all as she gets board after one or two!

  • Here's the picture as promised - it doesn't do them justice, but you get the idea :) They did them all theirselves - I just stood by to wipe sticky fingers - shapes and colours were entirely their choice.

I've still got to get my two to write them - we'll do them a couple at a time as neither are overly willing writers - the novelty of using my gold pen seems to help (and concentrates their minds so less mistakes)

They are fab - & yes it is amazing what a sparkly pen can do! We have a "charity shop" at work where the buyers samples get sold off to staff & proceeds go to charity (I work in a large retailers head office) & I have bought lots of sparkly pens or ones with dangly bits to encourage her.
