Bank holiday sick pay

Hoping someone can help.
I was due to start working nights on the Bank holiday Monday 5th April but injured my back on the Friday before so informed my manager that I would not be able to come into work for the rest of the week.
On Tuesday 6th I phoned the doctors to get a sick note to ensure that I was paid for the bank holiday but was told by the doctor that I could just fill in a self certification and that would cover me.
I have now received my wage slip and I have not been paid for the bank holiday , being told that a self certification note does not cover me for the bank holiday.
Is this right ?
Regards,
Gary

Nothing to do with it being a Bank Holiday as such.gju1961 said:Hoping someone can help.

For sickness absence, do you receive just statutory entitlement or is there a, possibly discretionary, employer scheme which might cover the statutory scheme waiting days?
Have you checked the absence/sickness policy? Is there something specific there about sickness in relation to holidays of any kind? They may consider that absence around the time of holidays is suspicious, a way of getting additional time off.

I have been told that if I had a doctors note I would have been paid for the bank holiday but I don’t see how that can be right.

Do you just receive Statutory Sick Pay or an enhanced Company sick pay? SSP is only paid from day 4 (there are 3 "waiting days" which includes non working days). If you receive an enhanced level of sick pay from your employer then they can impose any conditions they wish - including providing a fit note from your GP.

We get a weeks full pay for every years service then after that it is ssp0

If your employer is paying you full pay then their terms for doing so will be in your contract, you need to check what it says.0

Apparently it is company policy not to pay a bank holiday if you self cert only if you have a signed doctors note0

if the holiday has not been paid then it needs to added back or not taken off the holiday allowance so it can be taken at a later date.gju1961 said:Apparently it is company policy not to pay a bank holiday if you self cert only if you have a signed doctors note0
