Government EV purchase Grant

Hi All

Buying a new  Small all Electric vehicle ,and have recieved a grant from the government of £2500 of the  purchase price. Just recieved my invoice today and initialy can't get the Vat to balance correctly. Can. I please ask should the discount come of the purchase price of the car  ,before the dealership adds on the Vat ?

I just checked my invoice and the grant was deducted from the final price including VAT. So no, not deducted before VAT.

Mine as  well 🤣 If they deducted the grant of the cost and then calculated Vat it would have saved a further £500 🤷 so there recouping a good lump of the grant back then ?
