Looking for a good value DVD recorder for Christmas?

Samsung DVD Recorder model R149 usually retails around £99. It plays and records onto all DVD formats.

Found it mispriced in Comet today

In store price label was £99, but I took it to the till and after scanning the item, they charged me £69 which coincidentally is also their online internet price (delivery is free on all their DVD recorders at the moment)

The only cheaper price I can find is from Tesco Direct (£64.97) but they add £4.95 unless you can collect from one of their few Tesco Direct stores.

Bargain!

Good price for a dvd-ram recorder which lets you time shift, as it can act as a hard drive.

Seems like the reason is that it has analogue tuners, Tesco and Comet are getting rid of non- digital boxes. There will be many bargain prices in the next year or so. :j

So what does this mean its going to be no good to use soon?i have a samsung plasma and a dvd home cinema system with dvd player,but my dvd recorder is lite on and had its a good few years now,but to get a samsund dvd recorder to match the rest of my gear would be cool,more so at this price,does this only record onto certain discs also is it possible to hack this with remote to play other regions as plan on moving overseas in the coming years and no point in getting it if i can only play uk dvds.
