Halifax mortgage

I applied directly for a new mortgage with the Halifax on the 10/4. I just had a few questions that someone may be able to help with. Am I able to get updates from them as I applied directly? How long does it generally take to get an answer? The valuation is booked for the 14/4. We have a 60% deposit, I'm just very nervous even though the AIP was successful in how much they will lend us. But we had a mortgage application declined last week as my partner had taken the third self employment grant and my broker had told me the bank would be ok with it as we have such a large deposit. Thanks

@laura0289 I imagine you should be able to get updates from them.

Halifax doesn't always ask for business bank statements for SE applications. But if they do, they will want to see that the business is back up and running again.

Other than a few lenders like NatWest, having taking SEISS by itself is usually not the issue.

Yeah I'll give them a call today see if I can have an update.
My partner is under the construction industry scheme so the Halifax class him as employed. Do you know if the application process is quicker for employed rather than self employed?
Yeah my current provider is natwest and they said its a definite no if you've taken the SEISS. Santander who declined us said I contradicted myself as when they asked if the business had been affected by covid we said no and looking back wish we hadn't claimed the grant.

@laura0289 For SE apps, Santander are in the business of just making things up as they go along.

As a CIS contractor, you picked the right lender :) The last Halifax CIS app I did went to offer inside a week. Good luck!
