Accountant fee for tax return

The £300 was a few years ago now so I imagine the going rate has increased, but not to that level.[Deleted User] said:
I’d have to say £300 for two returns is very reasonable. One must remember that many would be delighted to pay that amount to a reputable accountant just for the alleviation of the stress and security that everything was completed correctly.pramsay13 said:£900 seems a crazy amount for two tax returns that aren't complicated.
Now that you've had it done you should be able to do it yourself next year using the one done by the accountant as a template.
One year I got someone to do mine and my wife's tax return that included PAYE income, self assessment, and property and that was £300 for both.
I felt that was a bit much and I've done it myself ever since.I complete my brother-in-laws’ form every year (for a free breakfast). He is a complete stress bucket about the whole process.0 -
I think that all agreed that £900 was high.pramsay13 said:

We have created an excel sheet where we record our rental income for the property and expenses such as interests, insurances, etc. etc.
We carry out a rough check on the numbers on how much we think the tax will be.
We use a freelance "accountant" from a freelancing site and they charged us £65 to calculate and file the tax return. The way the process worked was:
- We supply P60 copy and the values for rental property.
-They run the tax computation and send back to us for confirmation.
-Once we are happy, they file the computation.
All went smooth.
£900 is crazy!1 -
My accountant charges me £50+VAT to file my self assessment, which consists of:
- PAYE income - I provide P60s
- Rental income for 1 property - I provide a spreadsheet with all income and expenses itemised
- UK and overseas interest income - I provide a spreadsheet with this itemised per bank account
- Dividends

Hardly worth the accountant’s while I would have thought. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.Speedbird676 said:My accountant charges me £50+VAT to file my self assessment, which consists of:- PAYE income - I provide P60s
