Can I ask if someone has an accident at work can you ask for any CCTV footage for future reference

Every one has the right to request CCTV footage of themselves, whether in the work place or elsewhere via a subject access request. This isn't necessarily immediate because you don't have the right to see footage of other people so the workplace may need to check what they can legitimately show you.

If you think you might want to see it, you probably need to get the request in promptly as companies are likely to keep it for differing lengths of time.

It is not easy and many may cite it has been deleted if it does not favour them. With the advent of cheaper and bigger hard drives data is stored for longer. Most were expected to keep it for bout 4 weeks.

In your case they will have it saved judging by what you have stated.  It can be a lengthy process
