How important are P60 when applying for mortgage?

I don’t have my latest P60, due to personal reasons..
So if I wanted to in the future apply for a mortgage (within this year), and I can’t provide a p60 does that mean I have no chance to get a mortgage?

Would be grateful for any help thanks!

@liyana89 Generally speaking, if you're relying on basic income, most mainstream lenders will not require a P60.
It's only when you need variable income (overtime, bonuses, commission, etc) to be considered that some lenders may require it for evidence of a track record.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Yes it’ll be basic income, so no extra income (that’s what you meant right?)1

I've had 2 mortgages and I've never had to submit one. They normally ask for payslips.1
