When to hand in notice ? When off

I have been working for my company for 15 years.I am currently in week 10 of being signed off work for depression and anxiety , mostly due to a narcissistic boss , who has bullied me most of that time .I have realised there is no way I can go back to work and want to hand in my notice. My notice period is 3 months.
The company has a very generous sick policy, 6 months full pay , 6 months half pay. I have a review with my GP next week , and hope she will extend my sick note .My question is do people have experience of GP,S signing them off for 3 months, I thought I could ask her for a sick note for 3 months and hand my notice in at the same time so I don’t have to return ?

Im unsure they will sign you off for 3 months in one note to be honest. The most my GP was willing to do (and I appreciate it might differ elsewhere) was a month at a time with a review for my condition in between that time.

You can simply hand in the notice now if you so wish and take it from there.

I would be surprised if they will give you a cert for 3 months when you have been off for only 10 weeks.  I'm guessing previous have been 4 weeks at a time.  There is nothing to be lost by asking, particularly if you can make it clear that you don't see any way you can go back to work there.
How is your boss bullying you while you are away from work?  Companies do have a duty to keep in touch with employees when they are off sick.
