SERPS and pre 97 extra pension

When I first got my state pension in 2014 my wife was getting £4more than me but she is now getting £2.50 less. The difference seems to be the pre 97 extra pension. She got £8 in 2014 and I got £1.65. She gets £8.89 now and I get £8. (I get amore GPS but the difference there is much the same). I have looked at the rules for this and can't figure out why this has happened. And I wondered since my wife was getting NI credits form 1980 to 2005 whether she should have had a SERPS payment for some of that time since she wasn't contracted out. Seems trivial but puzzling. Can anyone throw any light on it?
