Is it possible to extend a mortgage term mid-deal?

I'm currently one year into a 5 year fixed deal with Natwest and I'm wondering whether it's possible to extend the term to reduce the monthly payments. I'm looking at increasing the borrowing (currently have LTV of 50%) to buy a holiday home, but to make the repayments more reasonable I'd like to extend the term from 19 years to 25 (I'm in my early 30s). Is this simply not possible or something they might entertain?

What does your contract say? As far as I know you would be subject to early repayment fees.0

That's what I was wondering. As I wouldn't be remortgaging, but rather extending the term of the existing mortgage, I was hoping I might not have to. There's nothing on the Natwest website about it, although others (like Santander and Nationwide) say it's a straightforward process and they don't charge: https://www.nationwide.co.uk/support/support-articles/how-to/change-your-mortgage-term-time#:~:text=Extending%20your%20mortgage%20term%20will,to%20repay%20will%20be%20less.Windofchange said:What does your contract say?
