Barclays mortgage disaster!
On the 23rd of Feb we needed to amend my mortgage offer with @Barclaysmortgages as we had renegotiated the price on the house we are buying . A simple reduction in price an easy admin amendment as we had already got a higher offer.
It took Barclays till 24th March to send the new offer which I only got, because my buyers were threatening to pull out. My solicitors checked the offer but they hadn’t amended the price payable to the vendor but the amount we were to borrow was correct.A quick fix surely? 2 days later they say we can’t afford to borrow that amount but can’t explain why as they don’t know as it cleared 2 days previous.
After 2 further weeks where I have made a formal complaint and spoken to customer services and complained. But nobody has responded to this or helped in any way . We have had to now reapply for a lower mortgage, you would think this would be a priority to process as my buyers are threatening to pull out but no, they can’t look at it till the 12th 7 weeks after we applied for REDUCTION on our offer. Even then I may not have an offer.
I have spent the last two weeks completely stressed out no sleep, anxiety . My house is packed as we were meant to move on the 31st .
Where is the Customer Service? Is there no duty of care ?
If I lose my sale who pays my legal fees ?
I feel completely out of control as nobody is willing to help.

@notsogreatatthis Sorry to hear this. It's probably small comfort but from my experience, issues such as these are perfectly normal for Barclays as soon as there's some human involvement. When things go wrong, it's often impossible to speak to someone who either knows anything or can do something, even for us brokers.Persist with the complaint, and update it if Barclay's incompetence means that you incur a financial loss. The last 2 instances (on this forum) where someone got succour on these kind of issues was by emailing senior managers at Barclays. I wasn't able to find those posts on a quick search, but do perform a search and check.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
