Halifax taking mortgage payments after sold house...

I recently sold my house and the mortgage was settled / funds paid into my account yet a week later, Halifax took a monthly payment out my account for the sold property... I tried to contact them but was unable to get through so will try again tomorrow. Surely this can’t be right as the account has been settled..?
Thanks

Actually 'a week' later or is this more like closed on a Friday and mortgage payment came out the following Tue/Wed?Either way the settlement statement from Halifax should make it clear if the trailing payment was included in the settlement figure or just a mistake... If it is a mistake it should be automatically returned to you...0

We completed our house move mid-month and the previous mortgage company took another payment after completion. It was refunded within a couple of days without me even asking for it along with the two weeks’ worth we had overpaid the month before.0

The money taken will be refunded. Would have been too late to cancel the direct debit collection. Just a timing issue.2
