Metro Bank mortgage process

We have an ongoing application with Metro Bank which has been with their underwriters for 3 weeks. Along the way they have asked various extra questions which we have been able to answer with evidence.
The case has now been passed to a Senior underwriter. Would this mean that this is a credible application which is likely to be approved (essentially their QA or box ticking task)?

We have been pushing all of the way. We started the application on 2nd March but they outlined to our broker that they needed a letter from my wife's employer due to furlough. We receieved DIP on 9th March 2021 and they initially declined it as a result of making assumptions on credit data and not asking questions. We challenged it and were asked to supply more information on 12th and 16th March. Every time you send them information there is a 72 hours average response time. This lead to further questions being asked and responded immediately with the last lot of questions on 29th March 2021. We were told a response within 48 hours and that never happened. On the 72 hours marker I rand both their Customer service team and my broker who advised it was passed to a Senior Underwriter but would not confirm why other than this is standard for furlough based applications. On Thursday 1st April I refused to get off the phone until I had an indicative timescale because we are at risk of loosing the house we have been trying to buy since August 2020.

With that in mind, would a straight decline be made by underwriter and an overall acceptance be at the confirmation of a senior?
