New partial denture and future NHS costs

Hello there,
I recently had a troublesome front tooth extracted and an immediate partial denture put in place. I am aware that over time my gum will change and shrink and the denture will need sorting out, in fact within just two weeks, I already have a bit of a gap between the false tooth and my gumline. But I am wondering what charges I will incur when they look at the denture again. Is it a band 3 charge again or not? The denture may be a long term solution for me, I haven't decided whether to have a bridge eventually or not. Should I go back within the next couple of weeks or wait for as long as I can manage with my current partial. I just am not sure what kind of charges I will face with this partial denture running forwards? Thanks everyone 😉

Each reline that is needed is a band two charge , each new denture is a band three charge in England and Wales. Different charges apply in Scotland and NI.

Is that the case even if the reline is within 2 months of me getting the denture? Thanks

Yes , because it's an immediate denture you should have been made aware that it will possibly need several relines and remaking and there will be charges for this .

But if any changes occur within 2 months of the procedure, then I thought there'd be no charge ?

Immediate dentures are different because they are viewed as a temporary measure , the gums and bone will change and they will need relining  and remaking . That will incur a charge because a definitive denture will be made anything from 3 months to 6 months after the initial treatment.

I have to say that my hubby still is wearing his temporary partial he had made about 3 yrs ago.  Its the front teeth too (accident, not neglect).   He must be lucky and have good gums.  He doesn't even use anything like fixodent to hold it in place.  It once left his mouth during a massive sneezing fit in Home Bargains though :D
That was before the days of wearing facemasks.    He stood on it and it cracked in half and he's still using it. Got it fixed for £30 at a dental lab.    Far too financially tight to consider buying another set even at NHS band prices !!

Yes, sneezing with one in seems to be quite an art that I am slowly getting used to. Needless to say my dog was more shocked than me when I had my first sneeze and the partial flew across the room at breakneck speed. Luckily he didn't pick it up and run off with it!

I have one and I was lucky to get it whilst on low income scheme. They have since made an extra tooth into it. Also I think i preferred a whole new denture to me made when there was an issue with one of the tooth breaking from it. The fixing of the tooth to the current denture just didn't work for me.

To be fair I haven't been back to desist for a couple of years mainly because I was scared so much and alsp they have chnaged hands. Plus covid has occurred. I should reallt go as I have some cavities and broken tooth on the back of one.
I just don't like not knowing what they are doing.
