Could someone recommend a sewing machine for a beginner?

Maybe helpful but why resurrect a thread that is over three years old.0

If you want to sew as a long-term hobby, I'd recommend buying on a sewing machine with computerized controls instead of mechanical ones. such as Brother CS6000I.They're easier to use, as well as the consistency of the stitching is much better. They may generally convey more decorative stitches provided as well.0

Certainly would not recommend a computerised one for a beginner, you do not need decorative stitches, and there is far more to go wrong with a computerised machine with more complicated maintenance. If you are going to post useless comments please do not put them where someone that does not know what they are doing may find them and mistakenly take them for good advice. You certainly do not need to spend £2-300 for something like this unless you are a very experienced machinist doing a lot of sewing. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
