HMRC Cheque can they be cashed?

Hello all, I'm unsure if this is in the correct thread so if not I apologise.

I have a tax refund being sent via cheque from HMRC but I have an online bank that doesn't accept cheque's.  Can these cheques be cashed anywhere for example at a Post Office with ID etc.

Which bank are you with? Do they not allow you to pay in cheques even on their app?

Think you have two options.
Talk to HMRC and get them to send your refund by direct credit to your bank account - presumably they can cancel the cheque somehow.
Take the cheque and ID to somewhere that offers a cheque cashing service but expect to pay around 4% for the service

Another option - open an account elsewhere with a bank or building society which does allow cheque deposits and doesn't even charge you for its regular services.  But be careful as some require you to open with a cheque drawn on an account in your own name.  A bricks and mortar bank has its uses.
