Hi
I'm on the northern Ireland housing executive waiting list since March 2020 with 110 points currently. I've since found out I'm pregnant and wondered what proof I need for the housing executive as I'm sure they will want proof as in letter from my Drs? Do they also contact the Drs for confirmation or is a letter enough? I'm experiencing some family violence at home where things getting thrown at me and my friend witnessed it but they didn't want to speak to her as a witness and just offered me hostel accommodation.

The doctor's letter should be enough.    The days of suddenly being offered a flat or house because you are pregnant are long gone.   If things are so bad move into the hostel in the meantime which will be safer for you.    Not sure but living in a hostel might get you extra points?   The NIHE were not allocating properties because of the pandemic and have only just started again.  So there is a backlog.

Just to add, have you gone to the police over the violence?   The NIHE do not take statements from witnesses the police will.  You can get a copy of the police report and pass it to the NIHE.

It might be worth speaking to women's aid? They will be able to offer you support, or possibly a place in a refuge as an alternative to a hostel.
