Messed up with the Halifax

I have sold house for £360k and have had an offer accepted 3 weeks ago on another house for £330k. I owe £80k to Halifax. Profit £280k We wanted to put £260k down and borrow £70k.
So after everything going so well and having a full credit check (A pass) doing as requested from advisor, cleared 1000;s of 0% debt and closed multiple dormant accounts, affordabilty passed and valuation passed, she was just about to make offer and we failed a credit check. She asked for our crefit files. Stupidly we only declared late payments on Next account for husband. Did not realise until a couple of days ago he has an active CCJ from November 2015 (30 weeks left) for £442. We paid it off as soon as we knew. My file is pristine. The advisor was shocked that computer didnt pull it up earlier. She said she will put it to her manager next week to see if the senior underwriters will even agree to look at it and is only doing this because im an existing customer and want to borrow less. Even so she said its very unlikely it will be passed.
Has this happened to anyone else and a miracle occurred and they gave the mortgage? How do I find a broker who specialises in adverse credit? When iv looked nearly all say they do but do they?
Please go easy, should of got a broker in the first place. Four in a chain all about to collapse because of me

I don't think you should wait for the Halifax adviser. If I remember correctly Halifax ask a question about CCJs in last 6 years and you have already answered that incorrectly.
And if that's the only issue in your credit history, you don't need to pay through your nose for an adverse broker as some less scrupulous ones will milk you for all it's worth soon as you mention the word adverse. Try a normal experienced broker (get a recc from friends, family etc etc) and see what they say first before going to other more expensive options.1 -
Lots of mortgage advisors on here that can help with adverse. Just look for the signatures. 🙂1

So my case has gone to appeal. Two working day so probably next week with bank Holidays. I have spoken to a broker who thinks The Leeds b/s could be an option if the Halifax definitely say no. Will update once I know. I have read so many posts where the outcome isn't posted, drives me mad

If it passed and then failed it sounds to me like it was wrongly keyed in the first place, was a name or address misspelt or later changed?I am a Mortgage Broker
You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Broker, so you need to take my word for it. This signature is here as I follow MSE's Mortgage Adviser Code of Conduct. Not that I know of. Can only think its the ccj. I asked the woman why didn't it show when you did the first full credit check? She said it sometimes doesn't. If it had it would of been easier. Will see what happens. I think I would of stood a better chance if the ccj was settled and declared but we didn't check the files. Lesson learnt.amnblog said:If it passed and then failed it sounds to me like it was wrongly keyed in the first place, was a name or address misspelt or later changed?0 -
CCJ's etc will be picked up when the lender performs checks with the Trust Registry. Won't be reliant on the information from CRA's alone.

After Halifax requesting more information about everything other than the CCJ, two hours later we received a call informing us we have a mortgage offer ! 😀1
