Saving on Instagram

I've been doing Instagram competitions for a while now but there's one thing that I'm still getting confused about. Save/saving. 
When a competition asks you to save the post I click on the bookmark icon (bottom right of the photo) but I've now noticed that this only saves it privately for my behalf. Does it also notify the original poster that it's been saved? 
I know how to share a story it's just save that is confusing me.
Or do you just repost the photo on your own thread?

I believe that saving a photo, just saves it for your own use, you can create folders to save them in.
As far as I'm aware, it doesn't notify them, but it does allow you personally to go to your saved posts.
I have also been a bit baffled by this, as more and more competitions are requiring it as part of an entry, but there would be no way of confirming it.

Thank you. I've been reposting the image on my thread. Tagging the original poster then hashtaging with #Repost #Saved #SavedPost. Similar to what Hughes on Instagram ask us to do.
