Ideas for cheaper child birthdays/parties?

Hello everyone,
It's my childs 4th birthday in January. Does anyone have an idea of an alternative to taking all the kids to a 'Jumparound' place which seems to cost £10 a head (when you include the food).
We don't live in a place large enough to accomodate a party - so do you have any other ideas?
Thanks

Hiya
We hired a local hall & did a disco (made own cd for it) & old fashioned party games - musical statues, musical bumps, pin the tail on the my little pony (made it myself) musical chairs, pass the parcel, sleeping lions etc The kids loved it. I also put a table out with paper, crayons, paper crowns that i made for them to colour. A sweetie was given to each child that did a drawing. Kept them quite for a bitI was lucky cos I bribed my 14 yr old dd & her friend to do the disco & some of the games while I put the food out :T I also only made the party 1 1/2 hours. I find 2 hours too long when your doing it yourself.
Kids love balloons & I blew up thousands (ok slight exaggeration just felt like that:rotfl: ) for them to play with.
Also you can get bouncy castles for hire quite cheap in the local paper.
Good luck J0 -
What about grandparents, if their house is big enough?
I bet they'd love to be involved
And put on a "Traditional Birthday Party".
So sandwiches, choccy biccies, jelly/ice-cream and cake.0 -
I would say the same as FriendlyJ i did this for my girls when they were little.
Community rooms or halls don't cost alot, a little stereo that plays cd's, Ask family to contribute to food etc,you wont need much, they would rather play. You could make a bit extra for any adults that stay.
Shop around for a magic man or animal man.
Get the kids to help you make banners etc, paper plates on string maybe.
Pass the parcel, musical chairs, pin the tail on the donkey old but good.
Just enjoy it.0 -
Or McDonalds. I know, I know - its not very PC but they only usually charge the price of the kids meals. No cleaning up, still have fun and games plus some food.
It can work out cheaper than hiring a hall a doing all that yourself (which is still pretty cheap)0 -
:hello: Me again
Another thought - does she have a friend who shares a birthday around the same time that you could do a joint party with. We shared a magic party with oldest dd when she was younger & it worked really well. Kids entertainers can be expensive but when you share the cost it can work out to be relatively cheap compared to the fun factory type places. And you also get help with the food, tidying up etc :T
Kids parties can be great fun at the end of the day kids like fun things -playing & games they are not worried about the food too much as long they have fun & a bit of cake :rotfl:
