Notice period entitlement

I have just handed my notice into my current employer, giving them 3 weeks notice. The following day he turned around to me and said that I might as well finish on Sunday (3 days later). I have worked for the business for over 3 years; but still don't have a written contract/ or statement of employment!
I have requested that I be kept on the books/ furlough until my notice is over as my new employer can not start me any earlier - this would leave me over 2 weeks without any pay/ money.
What are my rights/ entitlement to my notice pay/ furlough, etc.
Help would be appreciated - thanks in advance 🙂

AIUI you have to come of furlough for paid notice, remember reading that somewhere so needs checking?
Statutory employee notice is 1 week where did you get 3 weeks from?
if you have contractual notice of 3 weeks then you can refuse the offer of early termination and they should still pay you1 -
Having been employed for over 3 years you are entitled to receive 3 weeks' notice. Though you should have been provided with written particulars it doesn't make any difference to your legal entitlement to those 3 weeks. (If you didn't have anything in writing, you could have just given one week's notice - but that doesn't change the fact that they cannot shorten the notice they give without your agreement.)
If they want to give notice, they certainly need to pay at 100%. If you have taken more paid holiday (paid at 100%) than accrued up to the time of the end of your employment, they can deduct the over-payment. If you would have accrued more than taken, they can give you notice to take it during your notice period or pay you instead in addition.1 -
If the employee only needs to give 1 weeks notice but gives 3 weeks, can the employer simply accept handing in of notice but shorten to 1 week (if that makes sense). If they can do that the OP is still entitled to the full one week notice pay, not just 3 days.
