Best way to convert store vouchers to cash?

Hi
I have accumulated lots of John Lewis store vouchers by using their Partnership credit card. Probably about £1500 and there doesn't seem to be an expiry.
Problem is that JL seem to be having lots of problems with management and covid, so I need to cash these in before they're worthless. I was saving them all up to buy an American fridge for our kitchen - but I've not even started the building work yet so that's ages away :(
Unfortunately I don't currently know anyone looking to buy a high ticket item from JL, so could anyone recommend the most efficient way of converting these into cash?? I was thinking of maybe buying a high end laptop and selling it on ebay (on £1 listing days of course!), or possibly buying something in gold? I'm not sure and wondered if anyone has a good idea please???

Thanks very much!
Dave

I'd just keep saving for your fridge (assuming the vouchers really do have no expiry). John Lewis are closing many physical stores but I don't see them closing down completely.
Just check carefully the credit card terms to make sure the vouchers themselves never expire.
Or use a different credit card that offers a form of cashback you are more likely to use.

I'd be warey of selling a high priced item on eBay like that.
  • Thanks Jon, it's a long way off for when I can buy the fridge and a lot can change in that time - several major names have already gone. I'm also not too sure how JL will fare against cut price rivals online like AO etc.... I did see on ebay a lot of these vouchers have been sold (at quite high returns too), but you're very right about being warey! - I've sold many physical items but can easily see issues with vouchers and wrongful complaints from bad buyers saying they've been used before!

Personally I would put them on local FB buy & sell groups. No commission, no PayPal fees

  • Thanks Sarah that's also a good plan! I might even consider gumtree too (if they're still about!)
