Rebanding deadline

After watching the last episode of MSE tonight and receiving our new council tax bill I thought I'd look into it again.
We've lived here for 7 years and I heard that there was a deadline for contesting? However I've checked the gov website and the 3 bed terrace houses where I live are in Band C although ours in a semi and are Band D. Most other semi's in my area including my parents house are Band C so I've always wondered why we are higher.
I've used the valuation calculator on the guide here and using the buy price we paid in 2013 and the valuation it is at present, it shows we should be Band C and potentially 7k away from the top level of Band C.
Does anyone think I've get a chance to appeal the banding?

So not worth the risk of doing it now? Or is that just the official stance. Not sure what my chances would be based on the figures I got0

You can ask the VOA to investigate your band, but if they say the band is correct there is no appeal process against their decision. House price indices are inaccurate, usually undervaluing 1991 prices. I would suggest you do more research on those semis in Band C to build your case, ignore the terraced houses.stuarta99 said:So not worth the risk of doing it now? Or is that just the official stance. Yeah so my parents house which is bigger than ours is Band C and about a mile from us, but I'm not sure how that could help0

Look at houses in nearby streets. Even if it is a mile away you could quote your parents' house providing it is a similar type, but be aware there is the possibility it could be underbanded, so you need to make sure it is no larger than yours. You don't want to be the cause of your parents' house's CT band being increasedstuarta99 said:Yeah so my parents house which is bigger than ours is Band C and about a mile from us, but I'm not sure how that could helpIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
