Credit score and mortgages

Hi, I’m looking for some advice on how to proceed with a mortgage application

In synopsis

  • Mortgage accepted in principle for the last 18 months
  • Good/Excellent credit reference until 1 month ago
  • Successfully Applied for a joint bank account with someone who had bad credit history
  • my credit score was affected (I didn’t know this would happen)
  • Bank then declined my mortgage application
  • Bad credit Associate removed from my credit account, after closing the newly opened non used joint account
  • My Credit score was restored to good/excellent

Bank still won’t give me a mortgage because their computer says no...I’ve been able to find out it can take a month for their system to update in line with credit reference agencies

Proof sent to bank that good credit has been restored, still no mortgage offer

This has been ongoing for 3 weeks now and my time is running out to get a mortgage on the property I’ve made an offer on!

What should i do?  I can get a mortgage with a bad credit score provider but is this the right thing to do...

I’m so angry at the bank for jeopardising my new home!  I can’t believe the bank are being so heavy handed when I have an excellent banking history with them....and it’s the the smallest mortgage ever...

Any advice much appreciated

@cattylady The scenario isn't fully clear to me. Is the "bad credit associate" a partner or spouse?

If time is of the essence I would recommend considering using a broker instead of relying on a single lender. If the ex financial associate is the only issue, it should be placeable. Good luck!
