OU wants payment for Postgraduate course now. But I can't apply for postgraduate loan until June

Hi All
I want to take a Masters with the OU this Autumn. I have applied for the course and they want me to pay for the first module now. But I don't have the money. I need to apply for the Postgraduate Loan first, but I can't do that until June this year, and then I have to wait c. 6 weeks to get the money. I would consider a bridging loan using a 0%credit card, but I am concerned that would affect my credit score negatively and what if for some reason I can't get a Postgraduate Loan? Has anyone else been in this situation? What have you done to solve it?

  • Your credit score is irrelevant, no lender ever sees it.
The cheapest way you will do this, if you can't borrow from family, would probably be a money transfer credit card (unless OU accept card payments for the course, in which case, a 0% purchase card would work). The former will mean a fee for the transfer but puts cash in your bank account to spend as you wish.
