Problems after being over paid

I was told 1 year ago that payroll had neglected to change one part of my pay when I went part time in September 2016!
I know I have to pay it back and I am willing to do so. It took the pay dept 9 months to come up with a figure! I understood it wasn't straight forward as my pay varies a lot each month Since I got the figure I have been asking for a breakdown of the calculations. The first version they sent me was just the total for each year. I asked for more details and now I have received a print out of my pay details for 2016/2017. Thats it nothing else!
Surely I am not being unreasonable to ask how they arrived at the figure they have given me.
My union rep is sometimes helpful and sometimes absolutely useless. How can I deal with that? Going over her head might not go down well?

Of course you are not unreasonable to ask for details to justify their total figure.dotchas said:I was told 1 year ago that payroll had neglected to change one part of my pay when I went part time in September 2016!

Is your union rep being helpful or not on this one? At least give her a chance.1 -
What is it you want? Can you not extrapolate from the pay details (not sure what you mean by this) or your pay slips, to see what you should have been paid?
Are you now being paid correctly? Do you understand how your pay is calculated now?Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
You'd expect the workings to be have been done using a spreadsheet. Therefore easy enough to provide you with a copy of the calculation. Stick to your guns. Until details are provided refuse to agree to a repayment plan.1

Thank you. The amount I have been overpaid varies greatly every month from zero to several hundred, and there's tax, NI and pension, so it is not straight forward. This is also why I never noticed. I am being paid correctly now and have been since it was noticed. You would think they would be keen to get their money back!:j I love bargains:jI love MSE0
