A question for mortgage advisors or anyone with experience about mortgages!

I need some help as I’d like to get a mortgage in the near future.
I lived in UK for 7 years, and have settled status there. I had a full time job for 2 years, but due to personal circumstances I had to quit that and instead work as an agency worker (0 hour contract) for a couple of years until March last year. Since March last year, I’ve had to relocate abroad, however I am planing to come back to UK by June if possible with Covid restrictions. I will be getting married to my partner, and we would like to get a house.

If I was to move back in June, and immediately get a job, will I be able to get a mortgage with my partner after 3-6 months of a full time job? Or will the lack of full time job be an issue when applying for a mortgage? I plan to move there in June, get married and also stay indefinitely which means I’ll be able to stay in a potential full time job for a long future.

I would be really grateful for advice as I want to be as prepared as possible for when I come back to the UK and settle down. Thanks a lot!

@liyana89 Will both of you be moving back and starting new jobs or just you?

@Liyana89 Once you're back and been in the new job on a permanent contract for 3+ months, you should potentially have a couple of mainstream options for a joint mortgage. Once you hit the 6 month mark, the pool of lenders will get a big bigger.

Open a bank account soon as you're back, get on the electoral register, etc.
