Looks like we are back to my commentBut there is some debate as to when the payments become effective with a possibility that the increased pension only starts from the date of payment rather than backdated to retirement age.

Now you've made me wonder who I actually spoke to. It was the number on the "Check your State Pension forecast" page, though that is a "tax.service" page. I chose the options that took me to the buying VNICs department. He certainly had access to my pension details and seemed to know what he was talking about..Dazed_and_C0nfused said:I wonder if DWP, who actually pay the State Pension, would say the same??0 -
He was very definite that it wouldn't be backdated - I don't think I asked, he just told me that would be the case. Why should it be? It makes no sense to be that generous with the taxpayers' money..molerat said:Looks like we are back to my commentBut there is some debate as to when the payments become effective with a possibility that the increased pension only starts from the date of payment rather than backdated to retirement age.

Why does it need to make sense ? Class 2 NICs for ex pats, effectively a one off payment of £3.05 giving you £5 a year for life !melena said:
