    Bala You only really need to rinse red lentils and pick over in case there are any small stones in them.  I've never cooked them in a slow cooker so don't really know what the problem is.  They only take about 15-20 minutes on the hob.  Perhaps it might be worth bringing them to the boil on the hob before putting them into the SC so that they have started to soften, but no idea if that would work.

    I’ll save that rissoles recipe  for later.  -Taff’s beans and lentil stew sounded good but I’ve been unable to track the recipe.

    Yesterday’s slow cooker veg and lentil stew was delicious.  I started it on the stove top so it went into the slow cooker hot; I set the slow cooker to  low and left it for most of the day. 

    There was still a bit of crunch when I checked it, I just added some water and left it another hour.

    and you can bulk out your mince/chilli with a handful or two of lentils.
