Seller pulled out - Already paid for search fees

As the title says, the seller has pulled out of the deal before exchange of contracts.

I have paid my conveyancers £350 as a 'deposit' I guess and they've carried out their searches which are chargeable and cost a total of £390 ish so I need to settle this.

Is there anyway of getting my money back one way or another?

No, until there's a contract then any funds expended are at the parties' own risk.

Some conveyancers will not charge you for searches again if you have to switch properties through no fault of your own. They would usually make that clear when you commission them though but it was something I made sure to check when getting conveyancing quotes. Worth asking perhaps, they wouldn’t reimburse you but they might do the next lot for free?
