Easy to be wise after the event, but from the sound of it, getting the customer's agreement in writing may not have been a simple task!cider13 said:Thanks for the replies.
It was an estimate. Unfortunately the job then required extra materials because some parts that my OH thought might be able to be reused, couldn’t be as they were too decayed (but you couldn’t know that until they were removed). The customer verbally agreed to pay for the extra but my OH foolishly didn’t get his agreement in writing to the extra cost.
If the letter before action doesn't do the trick, simply say in the claim that these extra materials were needed because [as per your explanation above] and the customer verbally confirmed agreement to the extra cost.
